Making the Impossible Easy
Great Life Technologies creates innovative solutions to problems in health care and personal development, solving problems that have previously been difficult or impossible to solve. We do this by transcending the limitations of previous approaches.
The innovative concepts, principles, models, tools and technologies that allow us to make these seeming unbelievable breakthroughs include:
• Human Software Engineering (HSE) – HSE views all problems as patterns of vibrating consciousness, patterns of energy and information. We’ve been pioneering this new field first exploring what the “bugs” really are in our inner human software and then finding the best ways to “debug” and “upgrade” it. With HSE we are finding solutions to problems that have seemed difficult or impossible to change. Now it has become as easy to solve certain problems as dragging files to the recycle bin or running anti-virus software but on humans… not on your computer.
• The Levels of Life Model – provides the context that allows approaching a problem at its true origin with the optimal modalities.
• The 12 Core Dynamics of Human Conditioning – Provides penetrating insights into the nature of preverbal human conditioning revealing the true basis of problems that occur at the level of Bio-awareness.
• The Precision Intuition Tool – Provides the means for comparing information stored in our cognitive database with information stored in our experiential database, determining if what we think is congruent with what we experience. Also provides methods of determining the energetic influences of various forms of stress on the body and whether or not the stress if present and if our approach will remove/resolve the stressors.
• The WaveMaker and WaveMaker Pro – Provides a wave interference technology for weakening or strengthening electromagnetic fields in the body. These technologies are used to “debug” and “upgrade” our inner human software at the Bio-energetic Level of Life.
• The Nature of Emotions – Provides a clear understanding of the useful and not-useful emotions. Also reveals the two categories of not-useful emotions – incompletions and reactive emotions as well as the subcategories of reactive emotions – projections and expectations. The chart shows when to use the SEE Technique and the CORE Technique.
• The 8 Pure Awareness Techniques – Provides simple, practical skills for rapid development of emotional competence and the resolution of both databases of not-useful emotions. The Pure Awareness Techniques are used to “debug” and “upgrade” our inner human software at the Bio-awareness Level of Life.
Examples of Human Software Engineering solving difficult or impossible problems
The Problem – Attention Deficit Hyper-activity Disorder is a problem of distracted attention and in some cases hyper-activity that is perceived as a wide spread problem with school children as well as adults. The current approach primarily uses stimulate drugs that help the ADHD person to focus and be more calm. This is not curative. It only temporarily reduces the symptoms. As soon as the drug wears off the problem is still there. This creates dependence on the drugs which is of course beneficial to the drugs companies but not to the person with the ADHD. There are numerous cases of long term negative side effects and even deaths from taking these stimulate drugs.
GLT’s innovation approaches the problem of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (DHD) by addressing its real underlying cause. Rather than temporarily mask the problem with stimulate drugs that are used in the current popular pharmaceutical approach to ADHD, GLT’s approach pinpoints and cancels out the patterns of energy in the body that cause the problem.
In most cases of ADD/ADHD the problem originates from an inherited residual influence of the disease Tuberculosis. This is a pattern of energy in the body inherited from someone in one’s ancestry who survived TB and then had children. The TB creates a weakening influence on certain organs and systems of the body that causes the attention to be drawn inward to attempt to heal this disruptive influence.
This means that if someone has an ancestor who had Tuberculosis and had children after contracting the disease that there is an inherited residual influence of the disease that is passed on from one generation to the next. This effect has been known in the field of Homeopathy as a Tuberculosis Miasm and it has been established for decades within Homeopathic knowledge that the TB Miasm is one of the major underlying causes of ADD/ADHD.
In addition recent research in South Africa with children who were treated and survived Tuberculosis-Meningitis concluded:
“We conclude that ADHD is a common long-term complication of TBM.”
The inherited nature of ADHD is acknowledged and is being studied within the Human Genome Project sponsored by the NIH.
A pilot double-blind, placebo controlled, randomized study was done at a learning center in San Diego where young students with learning disabilities such as ADHD are tutored. Individual cases from this initial pilot provide some extraordinary preliminary data. For example, the contrast between a placebo and actual therapy under double blind conditions is shown in the charts on this web page.
Also you will find there a chart showing the changes in academic fluency that we measured pre and post treatment with a standardized test from Woodcock-Johnson.
Upon seeing these results the director of the Banyan Tree Learning center was asked if she every saw this kind of improvement in two weeks at the learning center and she said not even in a year of intensive tutoring had she ever seen such an improvement. Although only an individual case, if these kinds of improvements are possible for even some percentage of students with ADD/ADHD by using this therapy further research is certainly warranted to see what percentage of a broader ADD/ADHD population also make similar progress or if this is an anomaly.
Reports from clients in clinical settings would incline one toward the possibility that this is more typical than not. Another case is that of a 9 year-old girl with ADD so severe that she could not read more than about a paragraph without her head hurting from the strain of trying to read. Two days after being debugged she read an entire book with no problem. These kinds of reports are common.
Using the WaveMaker Technology and special ampoules from a test kit made by Martin Keymer provides a method of resolving the residual influence of the TB. The pattern of energy is picked up, inverted and amplified by the WaveMaker and sent to the body as a therapeutic signal that cancels out the disruptive influence. This resolves the true root cause of the ADD/ADHD and the effort and disruption caused by this influence are simply gone. It is highly analogous to running anti-virus software on all of the cells in the body. In several thousand cases no negative side effects what-so-ever have been observed or reported.
GLT’s approach to allergies uses the levels of life model to identify which of several possible causes are at the true basis of the allergy problem. Allergies are typically caused by a stress in the immune system that can come from a variety of sources. Using the HSE code checking tool we identify which sources are causing the stress. Then using the WaveMaker Technology and/or the Pure Awareness Techniques the patterns of energy or vibrating consciousness that are truly causing the problem get “debugged” resulting in dramatic reduction or elimination of the problem usually within a few sessions. The following are the results of one study of 200 people with allergies to various allergens.
• (82%) of cases treated were concluded successfully (since the conclusion of therapy patients had tolerated the allergen without reaction)
• (11%) of cases treated improved (the features of the allergy were still present yet over time much less pronounced)
• (5%) of the allergies remained unchanged. No therapeutic success could be identified or, after initial improvement, the same allergy recurred. However abstinence failures during therapy were detected in all members of this group.
• (2%) could not be evaluated since there had been no new contact with the allergen in the intervening period.

The current conventional approaches primarily include cognitive therapy and/or medications that numb or mask the symptoms of the anxiety, depression, PTSD. These approaches are both expensive and ineffective. Drugs mask rather than solve the problem. Cognitive therapy provides understanding but doesn’t typically resolve the energy that is giving life to the problem.
GLT’s approach starts with the Levels of Life Model. Typically the real root causes of anxiety, depression and PTSD reside at the Bio-awareness Level of Life. Using the Pure Awareness Techniques clients are guided in how to use their innate capacity to feel and experience the energy fields of emotions in ways that are the opposite of what they are deeply conditioned to do. This provides rapid and thorough resolution of the energy that gives life to the anxiety or depression. When people experience this, it is so fast, so easy and so dramatic at resolving something that they have not been able to resolve for a long time that it seems impossible, even unbelievable.
The Pure Awareness Techniques are a precise form of Somatic Awareness. By approaching the problem at the level where it truly resides instead of just masking symptoms, GLT’s approach is to resolve the problem at its source. In one pilot study of using the Pure Awareness to reduce the severity of PTSD symptoms a group of 8 people were trained in the techniques as a class. There were no individual therapy sessions, only the group training that lasted for 6 hours on one day. Pre and post assessments showed a 63% over-all reduction in symptom severity. An additional assessment one week following the training showed a 73% reduction in symptom severity for the group indicating that not only do the positive results late but they get better over time. This is probably because we are training people in new skills for resolving trauma and anxiety within themselves and they can continue to use the techniques to resolve additional traumas and anxieties after the training. They become self-sufficient and greatly increase their emotional competence. Again, no negative side-effects have been observed or reported. The following is a graphic summary of this PTSD pilot study:
Reduction of withdrawal symptoms from nicotine, heroin and other drugs
Another application of HSE is to the reduction of withdrawal symptoms from nicotine, heroin and other drugs. Practitioners utilizing HSE type devices have used this technique in Europe for some years.
A survey of 7 people who were treated with the WaveMaker Pro for nicotine addiction were asked to rate withdrawal symptoms compared with the experience of stopping without any type of therapy (cold turkey). The results are summarized here - Be Smoke Free Now.
In addition, individual cases of heroin addiction have been treated also with dramatic withdrawal symptom relief. This application has the potential to make it much easier for people to stop their addictions to highly addictive substances.
It should be noted that addiction to substances such as nicotine and other drugs has both a physiological and psychological component. It appears that even with making it easy to stop an addictive drug that there is still the problem of having the addict not go back to using the substance to self-medicate. It appears that the underlying problem is the inability to effectively deal with unresolved emotional traumas and stresses. HSE approaches this aspect of the problem by teaching the recovering addict new techniques for effectively upgrading their emotional processing capability providing a superior alternative to self-medication with the substance.
This combined program of reducing the withdrawal symptoms using HSE technologies and upgrading the emotional competence of the individual can in some significant percentage of populations who do want to stop their addictions make the process of stopping and staying stopped much easier. Studying both short term withdrawal symptom reduction and long term sobriety success are both research objectives of Great Life Technologies, LLC. The first priority is to study the withdrawal symptom reduction by itself as there are very limited options for this at the moment and the success rates with this technology seem to be very high as indicated by our survey and other anecdotal clinical reports.
A book about this combined approach of therapies for smoking cessation entitled Be Smoke Free Now written by Tom Stone is available.
We are interested in conducting double blind studies on the reduction of withdrawal symptoms from nicotine and other drugs that will provide the opportunity to quantify and validate the subjective reports of its effectiveness.
One important concept used in Human Software Engineering is NOT to assume that the solutions to everyone’s problems are a one-size-fits-all situation. Just as your computer could become infected with any of innumerable software viruses, the same is true for human beings. Our inner human software can become infected by a large range of Inner Human Software “bugs” or “viruses” so HSE has tools for testing to determine what these are and what the best debugging procedures will be for a given problem in a given individual. This again makes it possible to solve individual problems of many kinds where other approaches fall short.
Debugging the Fear of Uncertainty
To debug the fear of uncertainty using the Pure Awareness Techniques, simply use the GPS technique to get access to the energy of the fear and then use the appropriate technique, either CORE or SEE or both to resolve the energy.
Remember that GPS is an iterative process so go back into the silence after each energy is resolved and ask the body again if there’s anything else. Make sure you do a thorough job of accessing and resolving all of the energy as with something like this you may very well have some “back-up copies!”
Resolving Fear and Discomfort with Uncertainty
There are two different issues regarding uncertainty. One is the fear of uncertainly. The other is a different kind of discomfort with uncertainty. I will explain to you how to debug each of them separately.
This came up because a few days ago I debugged a small group of people for being uncomfortable with uncertainty. As I did this debugging session I explained to them very clearly exactly what was causing the discomfort and I have to say that it was the clearest I’ve ever expressed it before.
Then again just last night this came up for someone and it was the same. She had an important decision to make and as is so typical, she was trying to “figure it out with the mind.” This rarely produces clarity. I took her through the process of debugging as explained here and afterwards she just sat in Pure Awareness for a few moments and then knew exactly what she needed to do. It was beautiful to watch the transformation. So I thought I would explain how to do this debugging but also explain the nature of the conditioning and other factors in order to share it with you and with the HSE community. This way you can also debug people for this discomfort too.
The people I worked with had already resolved the FEAR of uncertainty in previous debugging sessions. So it was not fear that was the problem for them. It was more of a discomfort with uncertainty. As I felt into it and did a little muscle testing I got a very clear sense of what it was. (For how to debug the FEAR of Uncertainty see this brief explanation – Debugging the Fear of Uncertainty)
The key component for debugging the discomfort with uncertainty is resolving our deeply ingrained habit of needing to know things with our intellect. Uncertainty feels uncomfortable because we are highly conditioned to think that we get certainty through intellectually understanding things. In fact for most people they would reply with… “but of course you have to know with your intellect. How else are you going to feel certain?”
But it turns out that we don’t actually “know” things with our intellect. We can gain intellectual understanding but understanding is different than knowing.
Knowing actually doesn’t occur with the intellect. Knowing occurs through direct experience.
What we traditionally call “knowing” has two parts to it but the distinction between these two parts is not commonly understood. The two parts are usually so enmeshed or collapsed that the distinction between them is rarely made.
These two parts could be called experiential knowing and intellectual understanding. Experiential knowing is the first part and we have to have it first in order to truly know anything. Direct experience is the foundation of really knowing anything. You can talk about how a strawberry tastes all day but if you haven’t ever tasted one, no amount of description is going give you the actual taste. You have to take a bite. Then you have the experience and you “know” what it is. It is only then that the intellectual understanding that a strawberry is sweet and sometimes a little bit tart and its juicy… All these things make sense only once you have tasted a strawberry. Attempts at intellectual understanding without the benefit of direct experience can only lead to speculations about what the experience really is.
We get a sense of certainty when there is congruence between what we experience and what we intellectually understand. The intellectual understanding feels grounded in the “reality” of the direct experiences. This actually encourages us to feel that we need to “know” things with our intellect. The intellectual understanding is so closely linked to the direct experience that it feels as if we “know” things with the intellect.
But this is not accurate. It does however create a very deep conditioning that we “need to know” things with our intellect in order to feel a sense of certainty and be able to make decisions with a feeling of confidence.
Let’s go a little deeper into the causes of discomfort with uncertainty.
Thinking is not a physical sensory phenomenon. It is something that happens mainly using what we call the subtle senses. In the case of thinking we mainly use the subtle senses of hearing, sight and touch. Experiences with the subtle senses don’t produce the same sense of certainty and security that physical sensory input provides. There are some details about this that are useful in understanding what to do to debug this discomfort.
The word uncertainty has a kind of negative connotation to it simply because people have so much experience of discomfort with uncertainty. But the uncertainty itself isn’t positive or negative, those are reactions to the experience of being uncertain. The main problem here is having the expectation that you should understand everything with your mind or intellect. There is a kind of comfort that comes with putting experiences into order in our mind. When we finally “get it” then there is a quieting of the mind that feels better than when we are still not yet getting it. However, this is not the same as the deep peace that comes with certainly that is beyond intellectual understanding. And without it, even when the intellect “gets it” you can still have feelings of doubts or vague discomfort.
The foundation of the discomfort with uncertainty comes in part from having two different kinds of thoughts.
One category of thoughts might be appropriated called – “thinking.” Thinking means that the thoughts are things that we are making up in our mind. These kinds of thoughts are produced out of a desire to create certainty and security. They are an attempted antidote for the fear or discomfort of uncertainly. Unfortunately they can only produce a kind of illusory notion of certainly. We are trying to coerce the universe into bringing things about in the way that we want so that we can feel a sense of comfort about that particular circumstance. Typically the universe is non-coerceable and it doesn’t capitulate. You ride along under the merry illusion that things will happen just the way that you want them to but they can’t because the story that you have made up exists only in your mind, not in the “real” world. So things don’t happen the way that you thought they should and you get upset by that.
The other category of thoughts that we have can be called perceptual thoughts or what I like to call – remembering the future. It also could be called “knowing” because it is the direct experience of something even if that thing isn’t yet proximate to you in time and space. It means that you are experiencing it with the subtle senses rather than the physical senses.
This means that you have some thoughts that are the result of having an intuitive sense about something that is coming. You aren’t proximate to it yet in time and space. It hasn’t happened yet but you do have a sense that it will happen. This kind of thought is a result of “seeing” or sensing something that indeed is coming to you but is just not here yet. These kinds of thoughts include what we call intuitions, premonitions, desires, intentions, etc. These are the “knowing” thoughts.
So there are two kinds of thoughts – thinking and knowing. Most people have a difficult time distinguishing between their “thinking” and their “knowing.”
This lack is the consequence of something very interesting. It has to do with the nature of the senses.
The gross physical senses produce experiences that seem very real. This “realness” is caused by proximity with the objects of sensing. It is necessary to be close enough to something that we can experience it with the physical senses. According to physics we never actually “touch” anything. In other words we get very close to it but the atoms, subatomic particles, etc. never actually collide. Apparently it wouldn’t be a pretty site if they did. It seems that when we become close enough to something to actually experience it with the physical senses that we become close enough to the electro-magnetic field of that thing that we have the sensation of “touching” or sensing it.
You might object to this idea by saying that we can see the light of stars that are thousands of light years away. And that’s true but the light that we are seeing from the star is the light that is just now arriving proximate to our eyes, not the light that is just leaving that star so far away. That probably happened years if not thousands of years ago.
What seems to happen is that when we have sensory experiences of things to which we have proximity the apparent “realness” of the experience has a quality of certainty about it. The sense of certainty is produced by the congruence between the direct experience and the intellect being able to put a description or order to the experience right away. Then it seems real. Then it seems reliable. There is a kind of certainty about that. There’s an apparent reliability of the physical senses to bring us the real experience of the moment. And there’s a kind of comfort in this reliability. The actual feeling of “knowing” is really coming from the direct experience not from the intellectual understanding. The comfort that I am talking about is not in the quality of the specific experiences themselves, but rather in the simple fact of the seeming realness of the experience, positive or negative as it may be.
On the other hand, experiences that we have using the subtle senses have a different quality. Subtle sense experiences are more abstract. Thoughts for example are experiences that occur via the subtle senses. We don’t hear thoughts with our ears. We hear them directly in our consciousness. This is using the subtle sense of hearing.
Because both categories of thoughts are all experienced as thoughts the clear distinction between thinking and knowing is often lacking.
However, remembering the future can be very reliable and clear too if it is not clouded by other “thinking” kinds of thoughts. And because making up stories about what you “think” should happen doesn’t lead to that thing happening, then there is a kind of conflict and confusion that sets in. Most people don’t distinguish between their intuitive thoughts and the stories they are making up. This creates a sense of unreliability of thinking and therefore of life. This is the primary thing responsible for causing a feeling that uncertainty is uncomfortable.
Both expectations and projections are experienced as thoughts. But our perceptions of things that are indeed real (but just not here yet) are also experienced as thoughts. These are the things that are going to happen. We are just not proximate to them yet.
Everyone has these remembering the future types of experiences. We typically call them intuitions. And it is also very common that people don’t trust their intuition. You will recall if you think about it times when you had an intuition, didn’t act on it, only to discover later on that your intuition was spot on and you could kick yourself for not following it. This is exactly the kind of problem that occurs from the dilemma I have described above. You can’t tell the difference between your thinking and your knowing. Not only does this cause you to not trust and act on your intuition but it also creates the feeling of discomfort with uncertainty.
It can also happen that people will attempt to override the feeling of discomfort with the uncertainty by vehemently affirming their decision whatever that might be. But most of the time when they are not trusting and acting on their intuitive knowing no amount of affirming the decision that they have made is going to coerce the universe into having life show up the way that these ego driven, not-useful emotions driven thoughts are trying to make it show up.
We all have lots of both kinds of experiences but the thoughts that are the ones of stories that we are making up can’t come true because they only exist in our mind not in the “real” world. And the “rememberings of the future” while existing in the “real” world, don’t seem real because we are only experiencing them at a distance away from us in time and space. Without the proximity and “realness” of the physical senses we are not sure which thoughts are real and which ones are just stuff we are making up.
Most people don’t have an easy time making this distinction. And when you can’t tell what’s a perception and what’s a story you are making up, this causes the subtle sense experiences to seem not so reliable as our gross physical sensing experiences.
So how can we distinguish better between a thought that is coming from a story and a thought that is the formulation of a perception of something that is indeed coming to us and will become an experience of the gross senses?
One way to do this is to check to see if there’s any “emotional energy” associated with the thought. If there is, the energy will feel like a kind of cloud or aura of energy, radiating out from the body into the space around you. If there is some energy like this then it is very likely that this thought is a story you are making up. When a story has an associated energy field it means that we are having an emotional reaction to the story. If the story is an expectation that life will show up in a certain way, there is a part of us that knows that it is just a story and not a part of reality. So the energy of disappointment or anger or frustration that it won’t happen is already present with the story the moment we make it up.
Similarly, if we feel fearful or anxious it means that the story we are making up is a projection of a possible negative outcome onto the future. The emotional reaction to such a story may be even more obvious than the frustration or disappointment or anger about an unmet expectation, especially if we are still waiting for the expectation to be met.
This is a phenomenon called identification. Identification means getting a part of the sense of who you are from something that is not really who you are… but it feels like it is a part of you. When you have an emotional reaction to a story you are making up in your mind, the cloud of energy that radiates out into the space around you surrounds and engulfs you. You then look at the world “through” this cloud of energy. It’s kind of like having dark glasses on. The energy of the emotional cloud colors everything and this makes the energy and the story seem very “real.” If you do find that there is some energy associated with the thought, you can simply do the SEE Technique on that energy and resolve it.
When you have extracted yourself from the energy of the identification and resolved the story you’ll have access to Pure Awareness and the thought and associated energy field will simply be gone.
Now one of two things will happen, you’ll either have access to clarity now that you didn’t have before and you’ll be ready to take action based on that clarity, or, you’ll be aware that you do not yet have clarity but that being in the uncertainty doesn’t feel uncomfortable anymore. It’s just not time to know yet. This is a form of clarity in itself actually. It is the clarity that you are not clear yet.
There is a Pure Awareness Technique for this situation. It is called WAIT. WAIT is an acronym for Waiting Accesses Intuitive Truth. In some ways this is one of the hardest Pure Awareness Techniques for people to practice. The ego wants to have the understanding NOW! But there’s some reason why it isn’t time for that yet and the mind doesn’t have access to the universe’s reasons.
Typically this means that it is simply not time to know yet. The universe operates based on a natural law called the law of least expenditure of energy, or the law of least effort. This is what causes the planets to move around the sun in an ellipse. An ellipse is the path of the least expenditure of energy. The planets don’t move around the sun in a triangle or rectangle. Taking those sharp corners would be much too much expenditure of energy. This law is operating throughout all of nature.
This law is also operating when it is not time to know yet. If you were to get the message too soon you might move into some action that would be out of sync with what’s going to be needed from you. So you will only get the message when it is the right time for it, not before. Thus waiting in this kind of case is the appropriate technique. If any emotional charge comes up while waiting or about the need to wait using CORE or SEE to resolve will be a very good idea.
So the energy of discomfort with uncertainty is primarily caused by the inability to distinguish between thoughts caused by stories and thoughts that are rememberings of the future. This then causes you to not be able to distinguish which thoughts are “real” and which ones are not.
We are also deeply habituated to falling back on our intellect and when things remain uncertain, the intellect can’t help us. Trying to figure it out just doesn’t work.
The resolution of this situation is to debug the feeling of the need to always be able to understand things with the intellect. There is a shift from needing to understand with the intellect to being able to trust that you simply “know” with your subtle senses. In order to do this we have to access the energy of the habit of the feeling of needing to know with the intellect. For those of you who already know how to do it, you can use the GPS Pure Awareness Technique for that. If you don’t know GPS you can learn it from the audio example here – (GPS Technique).
Once you access the energy of this habit you will typically use the SEE Technique to resolve this energy. Once resolved the feeling of discomfort with uncertainly will be gone and you’ll have access to that quiet, inner knowing place within you that is your own Pure Awareness. Then the clarity can come, in it’s own timing. It might be immediate if all that was blocking it was this habit. Otherwise it will show up when it is time for it to show up and the timing will be perfect.
What happens when you properly debug this habit is that you will make a major shift in your life. You will shift from the state of needing to see the certainty or perfection of things with the intellect to simply feeling the certainty and perfection of everything just as it is, even if the intellect doesn’t get it.

Living and Enjoying a Quantum Reality
by Tom Stone
Apparently the mathematics of quantum physics indicates that the nature of the past and the future is the same, which is puzzling to scientists since we don’t seem to experience the past and the future in the same way(1). Why, for instance, do we remember the past and not the future? According to the physics, we should be able to remember both equally well.
I believe that we do remember the future, and that we do this all the time. The mathematics of space and time are correct – it is our understanding of human experience that limits our ability to recognize, and utilize, this capacity.
Would you like to learn how to remember the future?
It turns out to be quite easy to remember the future and it is so natural that we don’t think that we are doing it. In reality, human beings are remembeingr the future all the time. However, we are so deeply conditioned to negate and deny that this is happening that our innate capacity to remember the future is not recognized or appreciated, and for most people it is grossly under utilized.
New discoveries about the nature of human experience now make this not only possible, but easy. Anyone can do it because it is part of our natural innate capability as a human being.
The situation is analogous to the development of the ability to read written words silently and understand their meaning. The ability to read written words that are formed out of combinations of individual letters is commonly attributed to the ancient Greeks about 2,500 years ago. This was a major advancement and simplification over the former Egyptian method of using hieroglyphics or pictures to represent spoken words. It made it much easier for people to learn how to read. However, initially all reading was done by speaking the sounds of the letters and words out loud. For centuries most people had to read out loud in order to understand the meaning of words and sentences. The ability to read silently was unusual for most people and only became widely taught and practiced in the 20th century. To quote Robert Wilson, a historian on the teaching of reading:
“Oral reading was usual. St. Augustine, for instance, was perplexed by St. Ambrose’s habit of silent reading (in Confessions). The importance placed on it can still be seen by observing the lip movement of some religious people when they are reading their scriptures. It was only after the invention of the printing press made mass production of books possible, that silent reading became usual, but the recognition and teaching of it as a special skill had to wait until the 20th century.” (2)
Imagine the amazement of the people who could read out loud but not silently when someone started to be able to read words without speaking them out load and know their meaning. It might have seemed to be a miracle! And yet, now we take silent reading for granted. Human being’s have had the capability to read silently all along but didn’t appreciate and utilize this natural capability.
In a similar way, the possibility that we could remember the future seems so far fetched that most people would say that it is not possible. And yet there have always been those extraordinary individuals who dared to be visionaries, prophets, even psychics and fortune-tellers. When someone is able to “tell the future” accurately, it does seem miraculous – perhaps in the same way that the first silent reading seemed miraculous.
What’s the difference between the past and the future?
The new ways of seeing how the universe operates that quantum physics provides for us gives us reason to re-examine the basis of our human experiences. Is it really accurate that we don’t remember the future? Is it possible that we all have the ability to remember the future but are not using it?
We know that people’s experiences are limited by their conditioning. In the movie, “What the Bleep Do We Know?” the story is relayed about natives in the “New World” not being able to see the ships that the European’s arrived in. Because they had no former experience with large sailing ships, there was no reference for what these things could be. The account of this phenomenon is that the natives simply couldn’t see the ships even when they were there. It is not that they lacked the capacity to see the ships; they apparently had no reference basis for being able to see them.
Human conditioning means that certain experiences impact the decisions we make about ourselves and our lives. Our conditioning even affects our perception by determining how we filter all kinds of information. Typically, early childhood experiences and the ensuing decisions that we make about ourselves and about the world occur on the level of feeling. They are direct experiences when they occur but then we make decisions on a “feeling level” that create something like an invisible fish bowl that defines the limits of what we allow ourselves to experience in our life and the world around us.
These feeling level interpretations of life occur in very large part when we are so young that we have not developed language skills. For example, one of the universal experiences that every human child seems to have is the experience of being emotionally overwhelmed. It seems to happen to everyone. And for the vast majority of people, the experience of emotional overwhelm is so awful, so painful, and so unpleasant that we make a feeling level decision that, if we did have words for it, would be something like this:
“It seems that this experience of being emotionally overwhelmed is coming to me through the sense of feeling. Perhaps if I were to try to not feel so much I could avoid this terrible experience of being overwhelmed by the emotion. So I’ll put a lid on accessing my capacity to feel things and just try to not feel things too much. Then perhaps I’ll not have to have this awful experience of being emotionally overwhelmed so often or at all.”
On the basis of this “feeling level decision” we then begin to try to organize our life in such a way as to avoid having experiences of being emotionally overwhelmed as much as possible.
Our mind seems to have the ability to draw on thoughts that are stored in the brain. The mind also seems to be able to perceive things that it also interprets as thoughts but which are actually perceptions of things at a distance from us in time and space. The thought of something that is coming from the use of our intellect is a completely different process than that which is simply a direct experience of our mind and senses.
We have a tendency to think that our sensory experiences are limited to the present moment and to the immediate environment. Let’s examine this more closely. The fact seems to be that all humans have the ability to have thoughts. In fact, just about everyone has lots and lots of thoughts. When we have a memory of something or a thought to do something, we are experiencing these “thoughts” with a subtle form of our sense of hearing (for auditory type of thoughts) or the sense of sight (known as our “mind’s eye” for visual types of thoughts). Where are these thoughts being “heard?” Our typical response would be to say that thoughts are heard in our mind. This is a form of hearing that doesn’t seem to be related to the physical act of hearing with the ears. Rather it would seem that our capacity to “hear” thoughts in our mind may be an indication that the function of hearing, and for that matter all of our senses may not be restricted to what we can perceive with the direct physical contact with the objects of our sensory perception.
Consider your own experiences. Have you sometimes walked into a room and felt that someone was upset before they said anything or before you saw their facial expression or body language. You could just feel it. Or how about having an intuition that it would not be a good idea to take a particular job and doing it anyway, only to be miserable in that job. Everyone has these kinds of experiences. What’s going on?
Could it be that our senses reach outwards in both time and space much more than we normally would acknowledge or recognize? After all, if we are walking outside and see a tree in the distance, we may be ten minutes from the tree but we can still see that there is a tree there. We could say that seeing the tree that we are walking towards if a form of remembering the future. When we are walking toward the tree we are seeing it from a distance in both time and space. We don’t think of that as strange. What if our sense’s ability to feel the various different events of the future was simply like our sense of sight? Why should there be limits to sensing things at a distance in both time and space? Perhaps we are constantly remembering the future but just don’t recognize that this is what is happening.
So if remembering the future is so common, how can we recognize that we are doing it? To understand this, let’s examine what our experience is of remembering the past. If we have a memory of something in the very recent past, we can typically remember it very clearly and in great detail. As the events move further and further into the past, sometimes our memory of the events becomes less detailed and less clear. It is common for someone to be attempting to recall something from the distant past and say, “Oh, it’s so long ago, I’m not sure of the details.” Or, “It’s so long ago, I’ve forgotten most of what really happened.”
Remembering the future appears to be very similar. When we have an intuition, a natural intention, a premonition or even a natural desire, often these experiences may be forms of remembering the future. And they are similar to remembering the past. Sometimes when we have an idea to do, be, or have something, at first it is only the general idea. Let’s take an example where the initial impulse is simply to have a new car. Then as we begin to look for our new car, we check out different makes and models, colors and features. As we are doing this we begin to get more clarity on what we want. When we finally settle on the white Nissan Altima with the moon roof, the 6 CD player and the automatic windows and seats, we can envision it very clearly even before we purchase it and take it home.
So the process of remembering the future is similar to remembering the past in that the nearer we are to the actual direct experience in the “NOW,” the clearer the memory of the experience as a general rule. This is because there is only one time in which we have direct experiences, which is, of course, the present moment. So the distinction between the present moment and the remembering of both the past and future is principally that the present moment experience is a direct sensory experience and the past and future are “sensory” experiences of things distant in space/time.
If we examine the phenomenon of our senses coming into contact with objects of experience, we know that even though we may touch a hot stove and burn our finger, that the molecules of the stove and the molecules of our finger never do in fact actually touch each other. They get extremely close but it is the presence of the energy field of the stove that interacts with the energy field of our finger that causes the burn. So it would appear that we really don’t ever come into contact with any physical object! It’s only a matter of how close we get in time and space. If we get close enough then we have a clearer experience of the energy of the thing that we experience. If we don’t come close to it in time and space then we may still experience it but not with the same degree of clarity and richness as when we are close to it.
When our forefathers were traveling across the American continent in the 1800’s in covered wagons, do you suppose that there was someone who remembered the future of jet planes crossing the country in hours rather than months? Leonardo da Vinci seemed to be remembering the future with his many amazing drawings of futuristic inventions. Writers of science fiction are even having a hard time keeping up with how rapidly the future seems to be arriving. Tales of technologies that 50 or 100 years ago seemed only pipe dreams are now either common place or have even been surpassed by yet more innovative developments.
If one thinks about it, it seems that it is not a question of whether we remember the future or not. Clearly we do. Of greater interest is specifically, how we can cultivate the ability to recognize and trust our remembering of the future so that we can have the benefit of this capability in our lives?
It is certainly well known that human potential is far greater than most of us realize and utilize. As the readers of our newsletter know, for quite some years now, I have been pioneering a new field called Human Software Engineering. In developing this new field, I have discovered that it is now possible to identify the “bugs” in our inner human software that keep us from being able to access and utilize our untapped potential. Even more importantly, we can not only find these inner human software “bugs” but we now have techniques and technologies for “debugging” and “upgrading” our inner human software so that we can begin to utilize these latent capabilities.
It may be that we will find that the only thing preventing our ability to clearly remember the future, trust this kind of remembering, and act according to the wisdom it brings us, is the conditioning to negate such experiences. The primary bug in our inner human software seems to be our over-reliance on our intellect to the exclusion of hearing, trusting and acting on our intuitive knowing. Our intellect quickly rationalizes away our intuitive insights and remembering of the future. This negating is so ingrained in all of us that we don’t realize that we are doing it. Of course, this is the nature of conditioning. We become so used to the conditioned way of being that we believe it is simply all there is to life. In fact, we rarely ever question it.
Now, with Human Software Engineering, we are exploring debugging this kind of conditioning and seeing what kind of results it produces. Researching the possibility of being able to remove the inner barriers to our ability to remember the future could produce some fascinating results. We’ll let you know as we find out – and maybe you already remember what happens!
May your future be delightful and fulfilling in every way.

I’ve been thinking about the illusory nature of Time, Space and Matter recently and had some insights that I’d like to share with you about how these illusions occur and how they affect us. As I have come to understand the nature of the illusory aspects of Time, Space and Matter I have found it very liberating. Here’s what I’ve come up with so far.
The Subtle Senses
In order to understand the illusions of Time, Space and Matter it may be helpful to understand an aspect of our awareness that could be referred to as our “subtle senses.” In the ancient Vedic literature there are recorded many fascinating insights of the sages of ancient India. Among these there is a description of something called the Tanmatras. This Sanskrit term means the “subtle senses.”
What are the subtle senses? It’s very easy to understand the idea of subtle senses. Consider for a moment the fact that you have thoughts. Also consider that you are probably reading these words without speaking them out loud. Most people read silently most of the time experiencing the thoughts of the words in their awareness.
When you have thoughts or read silently are you hearing the thoughts with your ears? Of course not! You are hearing them in your consciousness. In the same way, if you close your eyes and imagine being in Hawaii, when you see the ocean and the swaying palms, the mountains and the girls in grass skirts doing the hula dance you are envisioning this in your “mind’s eye” not seeing this with your eyes (they are closed after all).
There are also Tanmatras for our senses of touch, taste and smell although these subtle senses are somewhat less developed or less utilized by most people. In fact for most people the distinction between sensing things with the sensory “organs” and sensing things with the Tanmatras or subtle senses is not clear. Also for many people the idea that we even have subtle senses is not something that they have considered or thought about (chuckle). Of course just the fact that they have thoughts and that these thoughts are not heard with the ears proves that we have a capacity of hearing that is not limited to hearing only via the ears. Perhaps hearing is a natural attribute of consciousness itself. Might it be that all of the senses are simply expressions of the nature of Awareness itself and that our sensory organs are simply physical expressions of these natural attributes?
I don’t know about you but I love having sensory organs! They’re great! I would not want to be without all of the wonderful and delicious experiences that I have with them. Is it not Pure Awareness that is having all of these experiences? And is it not Pure Awareness that is experiencing all of our thoughts, inner visions and feelings?
I think it is a question of proximity. If we are close to something in what we call time and space then we get the idea that we are having these experiences through our sensory organs. But the sensing organs are only mechanisms for filtering or amplifying specific bands of frequencies out of all of the frequencies that are in our environment. But the actual experiences of sensing are happening in our Awareness. The organs of sensing are only bringing us the specific amplified frequency information. They are input systems to help us to sort out the proximate experiences from all of the rest of the experiences that exist in all of time and space. Perhaps they are the mechanisms that we have created for the purpose of being able to enjoy one experience after another in this appearance of what we call linear time. Perhaps the organs of sensing are the very mechanisms that allow us to have the experience that we are an individual and therefore allow us to have the richness of our human existence. Perhaps it is the very filtering effect of the organs of sensing that create the illusions of Time, Space and Matter.
This is all well and good until we become so lost to our human sensory experiences that our essential nature as Pure Awareness is so over-shadowed by the sensory experiences that we don’t know who and what we are any more. The illusions created by the senses allow us to play in the appearance of diversity. They also cause the potential for becoming identified with the things that we are sensing. When we get identified with things we lose the foundation of knowing ourselves to be infinite and unbounded and begin to get lost to notions of limitation and suffering.
The concept of Time is of course very useful if you want to show up at the coffee shop to meet your friend at 10:30 AM on Tuesday morning or to have everyone arrive to start your seminar or teleclass at 9:00 AM on the right day.
Time is a notion that we have created with our intellect. It exists only in our mind. All forms of measuring of things are created for very practical reasons and of course there is nothing “wrong” with this in any practical sense. It is exceedingly useful and I am not suggesting that we abandon using the measuring of time at all. What I am interested in is that we not be lost to Time as an illusion, that we not use the concept of time as an unnecessary limitation on our awareness of reality, that the concept of Time not be a barrier to our experience and enjoyment of Pure Awareness. More details on this in a “moment.”
According to quantum physicists the mathematics of the past and the future are the same. Physicists wonder why we can’t remember the future. I would suggest that perhaps we are remembering the future all of the time but we are heavily conditioned to negate these experiences. (See my article on How to Remember the Future).
Typically when we have an intention or desire it doesn’t come naturlaly with a calendar. We may immediately feel that we want that desire fulfilled right now, or surely as soon as possible, but that’s something that we impose on it that didn’t come with it when we “remembered the future” of that experience coming to us. We make Time problematic for ourselves when we unduly impose the calendar and clock onto it instead of allowing for it to simply be as it is.
The notion of Space has to do in part with the limitations of our physical senses. The ideas of direction, distance and size all have to do with locating ourselves in our physical body. The idea that we are localized may indeed be a product of having physical organs of sensing. When we have the notion that we ARE our body it gives us a reference point with which we can juxtapose the physical location of our body with all of the other things in our universe. It seems that the physical senses and the phenomenon of identification are closely linked.
The notion of Matter as being something “solid” is now of course well known to be an illusion from the perspective of physics. The solidity of Matter is again an illusion of the physical senses. We can’t see that the salad that we are eating for lunch is really just a bunch of fast moving densely packed patterns of energy. But apparently it is. And none of the atoms or molecules or subatomic particles, which are themselves densely packed energy patterns, are actually touching each other.
In fact, according to the physicists, nothing is really “touching” anything. So touching something really means just coming very close to it in what we call time and space.
More on the Subtle Senses
So it would appear that we have subtle senses and that we wouldn’t be able to have experiences through our sensory organs if the innate capacity of being able to “sense” things wasn’t there as a natural attribute of Awareness Itself. Not recognizing and utilizing the full capacities of our subtle senses can be very limiting on our experience of being human. Just as in the early days of written words when all reading was done out loud and the ability to read silently (hearing and understanding the “thoughts” of the words in our consciousness) was not widely known, like that it may be that the use of our other subtle senses has been lying dormant as well.
Current status of the development of our use of the subtle senses
In fact I have recently been thinking that the common limitation of the seeming lack of ability to feel and complete the sensations of emotions in our bodies is a similar phenomenon to not being able to read silently. It may also be that the fear of being emotionally overwhelmed is a form of not allowing our consciousness to be fully “embodied.” The reasons for this seem to be the lack of proper guidance in what to do and how to handle the “physicalization” of experiences that come with our consciousness becoming identified with “being in” a human body. Can you imagine a world in which the ability to feel things fully and not accumulate emotional baggage was as wide spread as the ability to read silently? Wow! It would be a very different world!!!
Just as it takes training and practice to use the physical body skillfully to have the experience of excelling in such areas as sports, martial arts, music, etc., perhaps what is needed is training and practice in how to use the subtle senses in order to be able to truly master them and use them to their fullest.
Here’s an example of this kind of thing. Some years ago I was walking in Balboa Park with a friend and we had the idea to see if we could awaken an aspect of our subtle senses so that they would be “always on.” The idea was to be able to always be aware of things that might be potential sources of harm to our physical bodies and to be aware of them so far outward in time and space that by the time such potentially harmful influences could reach us we would simply get out of the way and not be there any more. What a cool idea! It would be like having a radar crew checking the skies for invaders and providing alerts so you could take cover before any surprise attack might catch you off guard.
This was of particular interest to me because of the fact that I had not sensed such an event coming in my own personal life and had opened my front door in 1993 to a deranged stranger who pulled out a .44 caliber hand gun and shot me in the chest. Miraculously and obviously I didn’t die as I am gratefully here writing this article now and enjoying still being in this human body. But you can see why awakening this aspect of the subtle senses could be a topic of interest for me.
So we worked on this using the tools that we had at the time and it seemed to work. I from time to time get a sense about something of possible danger happening at a distance in time and space from me and I can sense whether it is really of any potential impact on me or not. I recall mentioning this at the first Core Dynamics Teacher Training course and saying to the group that as an example I could sense that there was some kind of conflict or fight between some people happening several miles away in a particular direction. The next day, one of the class participants brought in a newspaper article that described a scuffle between the police and some people in the area of San Diego and at right about the time that I had felt and mentioned the day before. These experiences are quite common and on occasion they get confirmed like this.
Awakening the Subtle Senses
It seems to be that the main barriers to the awakening of the subtle senses are various forms of conditioning. We are taught to negate our rememberings of the future. We are taught to negate our perceptions of things happening at a distance in time or space. And we are taught to relate to objects as if they are really solid. It seems to me that all of this education has been given to us from people who have been not fully “embodied” in the sense that they are fearful of such experiences and don’t want to know about them. Our mentors in how to relate to Time, Space and Matter have been people who are or were highly identified with the physical senses and the objects of their experiences. The negating of our experiences that are possible through the subtle senses seems to be created by various forms of conditioning that, as usual, we’ve become so unconsciously competent at them that we are not aware that we even have them.
I have long been fascinated by the exploration of the capacities of the subtle senses and who knows what the limits of them really are. I decided to create a course on mastering the subtle senses and it was one of the most interesting courses I have taught. The recordings of the classes are available now. There were 8 classes and they cover some really extraordinary new forms of using the Pure Awareness Techniques. Some of them provide much deeper experiences of Pure Awareness than you are likely to have had before. This course was designed to see how thoroughly we can debug and upgrade our inner human software to discover the full scope of what the subtle senses are capable of.
The cost of the original class was $1000. For the recorded class access we have a special offer of only $157. If you’d like to take advantage of this special offer for accessing this series of 8 recorded classes click here – Advanced Pure Awareness Techniques – Mastering the Subtle Senses.
Campaign to Create an Emotionally Competent World
Here is a recorded webinar of about 40 minutes in which Tom Stone the founder of The Global Campaign for Emotional Competence explains all about the campaign, how it works and how you can become involved in helping us all be able to live in a new world in which emotional competence is the standard rather than the exception. This webinar was recorded on May 11, 2012.

The Problem – Emotional Incompetence
We live in a world in which people are deeply conditioned in ways that cause them to be quite emotionally incompetent. Emotional Incompetence is the primary cause of many of societies’ worst problems including such things as: crime, addiction, anxiety, depression, a wide array of both physical and mental health problems, post traumatic stress, child abuse, rape, problems with productivity in business, relationship problems in marriages, families, parenting, in education, in the work place, in government and in every area of life. The inability to effectively resolve emotional pain and the deeply conditioned habits of being emotionally reactive, angry, frustrated, disappointed, guilty, ashamed, fearful, anxious, depressed or worried are the primary causes of suffering in human life.
Consider for a moment that we have virtually no training in emotional competence in our educational systems. The entire emphasis is on the development of intellectual competence. This is because the teachers have not been trained in how to be emotionally competent themselves. You can’t teach others how to to be emotionally competent if you don’t know how to be that way yourself.
It doesn’t take much thinking about it to realize that a massive upgrade of the emotional competence level of everyone could do wonders for transforming our world from the current state of ongoing purgatory to a whole new quality of life that for most people would be hardly imaginable.
What would it be like to live in a world in which people were effectively trained and skilled at being able to resolve intense emotional experiences quickly and thoroughly?
- Conflicts of all kinds would become rare and when they did occur would get resolved quickly and easily.
- People would be able to be true to themselves without fearing being controlled or manipulated by others.
- People’s ability to trust and act on their intuition would become normal instead of the exception.
- Being judgmental of oneself and of others would be minimized if not completely eliminated.
- People would see the world as a mirror and take any situation in which they might have formerly been emotionally reactive as an opportunity for their own personal growth instead of habitually rationalizing an anger, frustration or depression reaction.
- People would know how to resolve emotional pain instead of turning to addictive behaviors such as the use of alcohol or drug to self-medicate.
- The suicide rate would plummet or become non-existent.
- The need for prisons would diminish to a small fraction of what it is now.
- The high costs of health care, crime, addiction, divorce, child abuse, lost productivity, absenteeism and even war would be dramatically reduced resulting in balanced national and local government budgets and lowered taxes.
- It would start to approach heaven on earth.
But is this just a pipe dream? How could it be possible to improve emotional competence to achieve such seeming unbelievable changes in our society?
The Solution – New Insights and Techniques have been discovered.
A new form of training in how to rapidly cultivate a greatly increased level of emotional competence has been discovered and is now available. This unique training is based on penetrating insights into why people are so emotionally incompetent in the first place.
The basic cause of emotional incompetence is that during our pre-verbal development years as humans we all get emotionally overwhelmed. No one likes this kind of experience and as a consequence it appears to be a universal reaction to try to avoid intense emotional experiences whenever possible. When such experiences do occur, there is an enormous tendency to avoid having to feel the painful sensations in the body that are associated with the emotionally overwhelming experiences. We develop the habit of not allowing ourselves to feel these intense sensations of emotions to completion. When left incomplete the residual sensations of these emotional experiences tend to accumulate. Our “database” or “archive” of old unresolved emotionally painful experiences become a part of the basis of all of the behavioral problems, relationship problems, health problems, etc. listed above.
In addition, people are also deeply conditioned in what can be called “reactive emotions.” These are emotions such as anger, disappointment, frustration, sadness, depression, guilt, and shame to list just a few. These kinds of emotions are typically forms of reactions to unmet expectations. Upon close examination it appears that expectations are stories about how we want things to be in our life or how we don’t want things to be. When life shows up differently than we think it should then we have one or more of these kinds of emotional reactions often leading to impulsive or reactive behaviors that we later regret.
Also included in the category of reactive emotions are those emotions that result from the projection of a possible negative outcome onto the future. Projecting the possibility of negative outcomes onto the future results in the emotions of fear, anxiety, panic attacks, worry and in extreme cases even hyper-vigilance.
Here’s a chart showing the useful and not-useful emotions -
Both emotional reactions to unmet expectations and emotional reactions to projections of possible negative outcomes onto the future are actually not reactions to things that actually exist in the “real world.” They are reactions to stories that we are making up in our mind. We make up these stories in attempts to control how life will show up so that we can feel some semblance of control or safety. However, we delude ourselves as making up such stories only serves to lull us into a false notion of safety or control. Life still shows up however it is going to. This habit is also fundamentally based on the conditioning of resisting feeling things fully mentioned above. We don’t want to have more overwhelming emotional experiences so we try to control how things will happen hoping to not have additional experience that we can’t handle and our ability to handle our experiences well is quite limited due to our pre-verbal conditioning of resistance to feeling fully.
All of this conditioning and the accumulation of our two databases of not-useful emotions are the fundamental causes of people being emotionally incompetent.
What’s needed? How can we learn to effectively resolve emotional pain and reactive emotions?
Unfortunately intellectually understanding the nature of our inner emotional landscape and the causes of both incomplete emotional pain and reactive emotions doesn’t result in increased emotional competence. What is required is to learn new ways of handling our emotional experiences that allow us to do the exact opposite of what we are deeply conditioned to do. Instead of avoiding the sensations of emotional painful experiences we need to learn how to feel into the most intense part of the energy of such emotions and feel the sensation of the emotion in such an effective way that we complete it quickly and easily. How to do this efficiently has been discovered and has been named the CORE Technique.
The CORE Technique – Rapidly and thoroughly resolving emotional pain
CORE is an acronym for Center Of Remaining Energy which is an excellent mini-description of how the technique is done. When you learn the CORE Technique you are guided by a trained facilitator or by an interactive audio program on the internet or on a smart phone to do the opposite of what you have been deeply conditioned to do. Instead of going away from the intensity of the sensation of the emotion in the body you are guided to move closer to it, to allow yourself to feel it more fully than ever before. But this “feeling into it” is done is a way that makes it easy to complete the incomplete experience that you have been holding in your body and avoiding feeling previously. This is done by going to the center of the intensity of the sensation, the place where the sensation is the strongest. This is the exact opposite of what we are deeply conditioned to do.
The sensation of the emotional pain in the body is the experience of the “energy field” of the emotion. This is what gives life to the unresolved emotional experience that the body is still producing in us. Without energy there would be no sensation. Upon close and thorough examination it has been discovered that the energy fields of all such incomplete emotional experiences are very hurricane-like in their structure. Because everyone is so deeply habituated to go away from the intensity of such sensations by default no one knows that right in the center of the most intense part of the sensation there is a small opening. It is like the opening at the top of the eye of a hurricane. This opening is the top of a vortex or funnel that runs down the center of the hurricane-like energy field. But no one knows that this is there because they are so deeply conditioned to go away from the intensity of the sensation of the emotion due to fearing being overwhelmed by it.
But the way out of the emotional pain is not to go away from it. That only perpetuates it.
That only keeps it, because the body doesn’t give up on us. It seems that there is some kind of “experiential wisdom” that the body wants us to get by completing the experience of the emotional energy/sensation. This is not intellectual wisdom but rather experiential wisdom. So the body keeps producing the energy field of the incomplete experience as if to say –“Come on! There’s something here I need you to experience!” But our conditioning says – “No thanks! Maybe later! Or maybe never!” It is this conditioning that causes the accumulation of our database of incomplete emotionally painful experiences.
So the CORE Technique teaches you how to do the opposite of what you are deeply conditioned to do. Instead of going away from the area of the sensation of the emotional energy field, you bring your awareness in closer to it. And if you get close enough you will indeed find the little opening at the top of the vortex of this eye of the hurricane, typically right in the center of the most intense area of the emotional sensation. Strangely enough the way out is actually… IN!
When you become skilled at doing the CORE Technique you quickly learn that it is not only quite possible to rapidly complete old painful emotional experiences, you begin to also feel new strong emotional sensations fully and completely right when or immediately after they occur. This allows you to not add additional incomplete emotionally painful energy fields to your database. When you make the decision to become really good at resolving emotional pain using the CORE Technique you simply use the technique at every opportunity to do so and you rapidly develop this aspect of emotional competence.
The SEE Technique – Escaping the prison of emotional reactivity
The sensations of reactive emotions are quite different than the hurricane-like energy fields of incomplete experiences. Reactive emotions are more like a cloud or aura of energy that radiates out into the space around you and engulfs you. If you recall for a moment what it feels like to be angry or anxious you can probably relate to this. These emotional sensations feel like they surround you and trap you inside of them. From inside of these energy fields you experience that your whole environment seems to be tinted with the quality of the reactive emotion. Everything seems to make you angry or anxious or whatever the reactive emotion is. It’s as if you have on tinted glasses that color everything around you. This phenomenon of being inside of the reactive emotional energy field makes it seem that the emotional reaction is about something that is very real. We aren’t aware that the creation of this cloud or aura of emotional energy is a reaction to a story that we are making up in our mind, a story that doesn’t actually exist anywhere in reality but only in our mind. However, although the story is only in our mind, the experience of the emotion is that it seems to fill up the space around us, coloring our experiences, tinting them with the quality of the emotional energy and making it all seem so very real.
Again intellectually understanding the cloud-like nature of reactive emotions and that these are reactions to stories that we are making up in our mind doesn’t help you to stop doing this. The conditioning of our resistance to feeling things fully keeps us stuck inside the energy field rather than feeling the entire field. What is needed with reactive emotions is to allow yourself to feel the whole field of the energy and then to notice the surrounding quietness. Outside the outer most reaches of reactive energy fields is the spacious, expansive quietness of our own awareness, the very awareness that is allowing us to have the experience of the reactive emotion in the first place.
When you take your awareness outside of the energy field of the reactive emotion something very important happens. You are no longer inside of the energy field looking through it. You now see it from outside of it. This changes the perspective in a powerful way. The energy of the emotional reaction no longer colors your apparent reality. It doesn’t seem real anymore and it begins to shrink and fade away.
At this point it becomes quite obvious that you have been having an emotional reaction to a story that you have made up in your mind. When viewed from outside of the energy field it becomes easy to stop feeding energy into the story and the reaction and the whole energy field collapses back into the nothingness from which you created it.
The CORE and SEE Techniques are very powerful tools for creating emotional competence. When learned and used they accomplish two main things. They resolve the “not-useful emotion” that the technique is being used on and they cultivate a new positive form of conditioning, the ability to feel things fully. As feeling things fully becomes your default way of being you become emotionally competent. This means that when you have strong emotional experiences that you don’t get lost to them. You don’t collapse into being overwhelmed by them and you don’t try to mask them with your “drug of choice.”
What is now needed is a massive dissemination of the training in how to do the CORE and SEE Techniques. Such training leads rapidly to greatly increased emotional competence. The advantages of becoming emotionally competent are innumerable. Emotional competence leads to success in all areas of life. If we want to live in an emotionally competent world then we need to become emotionally competent ourselves and also encourage and support others in learning to become emotionally competent as well.
We are starting campaigns in each country in the world to promote the development of emotional competence for each country. This program is just beginning as of 2012. The countries in which the campaign is just starting are:

Eliminating Startle Response
Startle response is a common symptom of post traumatic stress. Until recently people have not known how to make startle response go away, but new developments in the field of trauma resolution that are coming from an emerging field called Human Software Engineering now make it possible to get rid of startle response permanently, and it is easier than you might think.
People who have startle response certainly know what it is. Military veterans who have been in combat zones but are not back home and are trying to integrate back into normal civilian life have been know to jump to the floor and lie flat when hearing a car backfire, mistaking it for some kind of weapon being fired. It happens as such a reflex reaction that there is not time to figure out that it is not a real threat.
For people who have been in earthquakes such as the recent earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand, when a train goes by at a short distance from where you are sitting in a bar or when semi-trucks pass you on the road and the ground shakes from the weight and movement of the truck, people with startle response can have a sudden reaction as there’s some similarity of these minor earth shaking events to the many earthquake aftershocks that have been happening in the Christchurch area (about 10,000 aftershocks have been registered since the big quakes in the past year and a half).
So regardless of the source of the original trauma startle response is one of the common symptoms of post traumatic stress.
Is there really a way to get rid of it? – Yes, many people have been successful at resolving the underlying causes of it and eliminating their startle response and it doesn’t come back.
There is a new way to resolve it which involves the use of an exceptional new technique called the CORE Technique. The CORE Technique is a new way of resolving the underlying trauma energies that are held in the body following a traumatic experience. With the CORE Technique you can quickly and thoroughly resolve the underlying trauma and permanently end startle response.
Recently someone who has been traumatized by the earthquakes in Christchurch did some work with me on resolving startle response. There are lots of aftershocks in the area and when they are strong it was producing startle response for this woman. But she would also get startle response when big trucks would drive by or when she would be near a train when it went by. The ground would shake and immediately she would have a reaction.
After working with her for about half an hour she reported that it was a lot better. She could notice trucks or trains going by and didn’t flinch. By working on it a second time she said that she no longer had it even with the aftershocks.
A marine Sargent had been in a trauma from having his encampment be under mortar fire while on a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Iraq. He was home from Iraq between deployments and was out on his base near the artillery range during practice. He heard the cannons fire and he dropped to the ground. His buddies told him that it was only the artillery practice but that didn’t stop his startle response. I worked with him for only about 5 to 10 minutes using our techniques and the problem was quickly gone. You can see a video of the session with him here. – Vaporize PTSD
Military Veterans, earthquake victims, rape victims, victims of violent crimes and others have all been able to rapidly resolve startle response and any of their other PTSD symptoms within a few short sessions either as a group training or private, individual sessions.

How to get rid of nightmares… permanently
Do you have nightmares? Would you like them to go away… for good? Of course you would. No one like nightmares.
The principle reason for having nightmares is having some form of unresolved trauma. Nightmares are a very common symptom of Post Traumatic Stress. When you have trauma from an event that was just too much for your body to process the unresolved energy held in the body due to the traumatic incident continues even long after the event itself is over.
It is the nature of the body to want to rid itself of anything unnatural and traumatic energy is certainly not something that a normal natural state for the body to be in. There is a kind of tension in the energy of the residual traumatic stress held in the body and when you begin to rest as in sleep this tension begins to unwind itself. This unwinding or “un-stressing” of the tension results in some kind of very small physical movements. These movements then cause mental activity in correspondence to the physical activity of the release of the stress. This mental activity is experienced as nightmares.
But the process of release of the traumatic energy just be the rest of sleeping is a very slow and uncomfortable process. People can have nightmares for decades. What is needed is a new approach to resolving the residual traumatic energy in some much more efficient way so that the basis of the cause of the nightmares is simply gone.
Human Software Engineering has an entirely new approach to the resolution of trauma that is producing dramatic positive results very quickly. And one of the most common reports is that nightmares disappear and don’t come back. Here’s a great example and it is just one of many, many cases where we have been able to eliminate nightmares permanently using Human Software Engineering techniques.
For the First Time in 43 years!
One of the most common PTSD symptoms is nightmares. Nightmares are caused by incomplete experiences. A new technique called the CORE Technique is an amazing new method for resolving them. Proper use of this amazing new technique to resolve all of the traumas that are creating the nightmares are helping more and more people to just not have the nightmares anymore.
I worked with a Vietnam veteran named Ernie who had nightmares every night for 43 years. He had been through 17 years of cognitive therapy at the Veterans Administration. He said that he benefited from the therapy but that he still had nightmares from several very traumatic experiences as a result of being in the worst of the war in Vietnam back in 1967. 17 years of cognitive therapy and he still had his nightmares.
Then in one session of using the CORE Technique to resolve the five traumas that were causing his nightmares, that night, he slept nine hours for the first time in 43 years with no nightmares at all. I saw him about a year and a half later and asked how he was doing. He said that he’s been nightmare-free, sleeping eight hours a night ever since that one session. Before that, he could only get a maximum of five or six hours of sleep a night and he was constantly interrupted by the nightmares.
So there’s an enormous contrast between resolving the energy of an incompletion by using the CORE Technique, and attempting to resolve the problem at the level of the content through cognitive approaches. By resolving the energy, we can truly resolve the real basis of the problem. When we deal with the content, we’re really dealing with the periphery and not the real cause of the problem.
This was one of the powerful insights that I got in healing myself from my own PTSD. I was able to resolve the energy of my own traumas and completely free myself of the post-traumatic stress symptoms. So when we use the CORE Technique we are focusing on resolving the residual energy that is stored in the body following a traumatic experience. When the energy is gone, the content flattens out. You may still be able to remember the content but the charge is gone. And typically, it’s gone for good and doesn’t come back, which is really wonderful.
There’s a video of Ernie and other vets sharing about their experiences of using HSE’s trauma resolution techniques to resolve their PTSD as well as a demonstration of resolving a trauma for an active duty marine sergeant using the CORE Technique at –
We’re getting incredibly effective resolution of trauma with these techniques. We’re eager to do additional research that substantiates this both psychologically and physiologically so that we can then really have this become a broad-based training for resolving traumas quickly, thoroughly and permanently.
As of this writing, which is on March 29, 2012, I am in Christchurch, New Zealand where I am helping people with nightmares and other post traumatic stress symptoms to resolve them using the CORE Technique and other trauma reduction techniques from the new field of Human Software Engineering. Several people I’ve worked with here are already reporting being nightmare free after just a short training to learn and use the CORE Technique. The CORE Technique is explained in detail in my eBook entitled – Trauma Resolution Made Easy.
